Asia Pacific Network for Food Analysis (APFAN)

APFAN Short Courses, Special Projects and Newsletter

Short courses of four weeks to six months duration, tailored to the special needs of the individual developing country laboratory may be arranged.

Twenty persons from seven countries have now been trained in food and soil analysis at Australian laboratories.

A special project funded by AusAID to help upgrade food analysis laboratories in Indonesia and developed by Dr Julia Kantasubrata of LIPI, Bandung, supported by QHSS and APFAN was a great success. The first edition of an APFAN Newsletter was produced last year by the Editor, Dr E Siong Tee, Division of Human Nutrition, Institute of Medical Research, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. A second newsletter, now called the APFAN/ASEANFOODS Newsletter, appeared in March 1999. The newsletter will appear twice yearly, dependent on Dr Tee receiving sufficient interesting material from food analysts around the world.
