FACS Newsletter Special/2004
Congratulation Message from Taipei
Chemical Society Located in Taipei (CSLT), under the leadership of Dr. Johnsee Lee, had been in charge of the FACS affairs from November 1999 to July 2001. During this period, we have done the following milestone achievements:
- Invited 3 member societies, Israel, Mendeleyev Russia and Mongolia, to join the FACS.
- Established the FACS web-site (http://www.facs-as.org).
- Established the award of¡°Distinguished Contribution to Advancement in Chemical Education¡± for the FACS.
Our Society is one of the biggest non-profit organizations in Taiwan. We have been serving to promote the image of local chemical communities and strengthen the relationship between academia and industry, now we are moving further to help the chemistry departments in the universities to show their R&D capability and education quality. Furthermore, we are currently engaging in a project entitled ¡°Chemistry Department Evaluation Program (CDEP)¡±, aiming to assessing the capability of 25 chemistry departments in Taiwan.
In addition to the current duties for the chemical communities in Taiwan, as an active member of the FACS, we always feel grateful to participate in the FACS activities. We are more than happy to share our experiences and enhance the communication among the FACS members.
Here are the congratulation messages for the 25th anniversary celebration of the FACS from Taipei.

Over the past 25 years, the FACS has been the most representative chemical organization in Asia. The FACS served as a platform where the members of the societies can exchange their ideas. In the future the FACS will continue to be a lighthouse for the chemical technology development in Asia. Congratulations!
