Re: Congratulatory Message for FACS 25th Anniversary Celebration
Dear Professor Thoang
The Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI) has received advice of the forthcoming 25th Anniversary of the Federation of Asian Chemical Societies (FACS). On behalf of the RACI, I would very much congratulate FACS on achieving this milestone and wish you well in your celebrations in Bangkok next October.
It is particularly gratifying to see the increase in member Societies during this 25 years. Ultimately chemistry serves the communities in which we live and FACS is a most valuable means of bringing together likeminded persons practicing chemistry from a variety of political and social backgrounds.

It was my great pleasure to meet with a number of the FACS Executive in Melbourne in May 2003 and to meet with you subsequently in Vietnam. It is of much importance to the RACI that the RACI has been able to host FACS Secretariat in recent times. These are examples of countless interactions of Australian chemists, which, through FACS, enables us to have contacts and synergies with so many other chemists in our region. By means of this letter I would also thank the many Australian chemists who have made (and continue to make) significant contributions to its administration and also who utilise its network to circulate and disseminate Australian chemistry.
Please pass on my personal best wishes and those of the RACI to the organisers, executive members and staff, delegates and all who have contributed so significantly with your past history and upcoming Conference.
