FACS Newsletter Special/2004 Felicitation for the 25th Anniversary of FACS
The Bangladesh Chemical Society (BCS) recognizes that the Federation of the Asian Chemical Societies (FACS) is going to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its formation this year. The BCS felicitates the FACS on achieving this milestone. The Bangladesh Chemical Society has been an active member of the FACS since 1989. The BCS participated at the FACS General Assembly held in Beijing, China in 1990, Manila, the Philippines in 1995, Hiroshima, Japan, in 1997, Brisbane, Australia in 2001 and Hanoi, Vietnam in 2003. There were two occasions when Bangladesh Chemical Society hosted the FACS EXCO meeting in Dhaka the Capital of Bangladesh first one the 1996 and the other in 2003. During the past 25 years there has been extensive activities of the FACS. FACS organizes the Asian Chemical Congress (ACC) every three years which brings the chemists of the region in close contact. FACS also supports various networks in the region in promoting research in chemical sciences and chemistry education. BCS is benefited and honoured to be a member of the FACS.
BCS understands that the FACS is a voluntary association of learned societies in the Asia Pacific region which are national professional chemical societies of respective countries and whose membership consists of individual qualified chemists. The general objective of the Federation is to promote the advancement of chemistry and the interests of professional chemists in this region in a way that does not detract from the autonomy of any of the member societies to which the BCS is fully associated. The EXCO members of FACS deserve special congratulations for doing an excellent job other the year spending some of their valuable time for FACS.
At this great event of the 25th Anniversary of FACS, the Bangladesh Chemical Society congratulates the FACS for its pivotal role in promoting chemistry and hopes that it would continue its endeavour to play a major role in promoting the chemical sciences through the chemical societies and the individual chemists in the Asian-Pacific region.
