Message from the President of FACS
| It has been 22 years since Federation of Asian Chemical Societies was founded in 1979. The total number of member societies increased from the original 11 to 24 in 1999. Over the past two years, the participation of two new member societies, Mendeleev Russian Chemical Society and Mongolian Chemical Society, has made the total number of FACS member societies to 26. I would like to express my appreciation to all member societies, the Executive Council members and Project Directors for their contributions and continuous support. We have so far completed the following activities: |

Chemistry plays a vital role in the development in Asia. Chemistry is also one of the most important forces behind the booming high-tech industry in Asia. Environmental pollution, energy deficiency and food shortage problems in Asia would require the devotion and assistance from chemists all over the world. Therefore, strengthening the communication and interaction among FACS member societies and with the rest of the world in order to help solving the above challenges should be the highest priority of FACS in the future.
Dr. Johnsee Lee, President
The Federation of Asian Chemical Societies
