Chemistry Society of the Philippines organizes
the First Asia-Pacific Conference on Analytical Science

The Kapisanang Kimika ng Pilipinas (Chemistry Society of the Philippines) is pleased to invite chemists particularly from the Asian and Pacific regions to attend the First Asia-Pacific Conference on Analytical Science (APCAS), which will be held in Manila, Philippines from February 19-22, 2002. This symposium is being held under the sponsorship of the Federation of Asian Chemical Societies and the Philippine Federation of Chemistry Societies.

This conference intends to gather scientists from the Asia-Pacific region to share and discuss recent developments in the various areas of analytical science. It aims to forge an active cooperation among the participants in harnessing analytical science in the regional effort towards economic growth, environmental management and health protection.

APCAS will be held at the EDSA Shangri-la Hotel which is located in Mandaluyong City, one of the highly modernized sections of Metro-Manila. The conference will focus on the theme ˇ°Analytical Science ¨C Gateway to New Domainsˇ± to highlight the relevance of analytical science as a tool in meeting the challenges and needs of our modern world.

APCAS will be held in tandem with the 18th Philippine Chemistry Congress, the annual gathering of chemists in the Philippines, and Expo Kimika 2002, a popular mega-exhibit on chemistry.

PROGRAMME
The scientific programme will consist of plenary and keynote lectures presented by prominent analytical scientists. It will also feature concurrent symposia and poster sessions on various fields of analytical science, such as:

  • Spectroscopy
  • Electrochemical analysis
  • Separation methods
  • Bioanalytical methods
  • Radiochemical analysis
  • Surface analysis
  • Process analytical science
  • Chemical sensors and biosensors
  • Analytical instrumentation
  • Automated methods of analysis
  • Environmental analysis
  • Food and agricultural analysis
  • Pharmaceutical and biomedical analysis
  • Chemometrics
  • Education in analytical science
