Mongolian Chemical Society
A new member society of FACS
MCS has been established in 1989 by the initiative of Mongolian chemists. At present the society has
become one of the major non-governmental organizations having a membership of some 3000 chemists
engaged in various fields of national economy. The society consists of 18 sub-units from all provinces in
Mongolia, which are functioning in accordance with the regulations issued by the MCS. MCS has a
sectional structure:
-Section of fundamental chemistry
-Section of chemical industry
-Section of agricultural chemistry
-Section of training and teaching. |

To achieve the goals we set ahead we intend to establish closer cooperation with chemical societies
worldwide to exchange the views and experiences. Since its establishment the MCS is having fruitful
cooperation with chemical societies of USA, Russia and IUPAC. The MCS carries out its forum annually at
which annual report is presented and goals for the next year are outlined. Besides more than 300
presentations are made .
MCS have been published more than 10 issues of "Chemical Report" where theoretical and applied
chemistry aspects are presented.
The MCS actively supports the results of fundamental studies in Natural Product Chemistry and
Structural Organic Chemistry. This is documented by more than 300 papers published by its members in
internationally refereed journals such as J. of Natural Products Photochemistry, Planta medical, J. of Am.
Chem. Soc. Chem. Bull., Pharm. Heterocycle, Tetrahedron and so on. Also the MCS
cooperates with State organizations participating in preparation of draft laws on ecology safety of industrial products and wastes
for the health of population. Many companies cooperate with MCS in the field of technology development
and industrial application of chemical science. The MCS is actively engaged in implementation of scientific
and technological projects at international level.
The MCS also carries out the series of programs in the field of chemical education and training at all
educational levels beginning from high schools up to narrower specialization of university graduates. The
Program for secondary education school includes the publication of journals textbooks and guidance for
arranging workshops and Summer schools both for pupils and teachers and preparations for national
Olympics in chemistry among secondary school pupils and teachers. At last a near future MCS would like
to organize an international conference on Natural Product Chemistry under supporting of
FACS.
Introduction about MCS was written by
General secretary of MCS Dr Prof. O. Purev.
