The
Asian Chemical Congress (ACC)
Welcome to the 9th
ACC (2 - 4 July 2001)
The 9th Asian Chemical Congress is being held at Brisbane, Australia from 1-4 July
2001as part of World Chemistry Congress, which combines with the IUPAC 38th Congress and the Asian Federation of Medicinal Chemistry Congress.
On behalf of the Federation of Asian Chemical Societies we wish to extend a warm
welcome to all participants of 9ACC. Apart from the delegates from the Asia-Pacific
region, we also welcome the interaction with delegates from all countries represented at
this unique World Congress of Chemistry.
The 9th ACC is comprised of a scientific program, which is incorporated into the first
half of World Chemistry Congress. The morning sessions on Monday, Tuesday and
Wednesday combine with the 38th IUPAC Congress including Plenary Lectures given by
various Nobel Laureates. A feature of 9ACC is the presentation of the three FACS Award Lectures, which are incorporated as the plenary lectures
of 9ACC on Monday and Tuesday afternoons followed by invited and
contributed sessions. These sessions follow the main streams of chemistry (Inorganic, Instrumental, Natural Products and Advancesin Physical & Theoretical Chemistry) and themes of focus to Asian
Chemistry particularly Chemistry in Community,
Chemical Information Networks, Green Chemistry and the Environment. The Wednesday afternoon session is the poster session for 9ACC.
Brisbane is the cultural and economic centre of Queensland, a state of Australia. There
are many attraction features including the coastal beaches, rainforest and mountain
habitats and resort areas to the north and south of the main city.
We trust you will find your stay in Brisbane a very rewarding one and that you will have
time to see more than the conference venue itself.
