Objectives:

The main objectives of the symposium are:

• To enable policy makers in the government, commercial and donor sectors to have a better understanding of the potential of utilization of natural products
• To generate mutual understanding in the natural product chemistry and related areas of research through the interaction of scientists from different countries participating in the symposium
• To promote collaboration between scientists from different disciplines including chemistry, pharmacology, biochemistry, botany and biotechnology through their research on existing natural resources to alleviate the massive socioeconomic problems in the developing countries
• To exchange views over the current advances in research on natural products
• To identify new prospects of research in natural products
• To recommend further activities required in order to achieve success by removing constraints in the area of natural product research to face the challenge of the 21st century
